Genetic Variability in Lithuanian Black and White Cattle with Different Proportions of Holstein Bloodline

Background: Maintaining genetic variability in livestock is the important step towards developing appropriate management strategies. When considering crossing native Lithuanian Black and White cattle (BW) with Holsteins (HL), comprehensive knowledge of breed characteristics, including diversity, required. The aim this study was to determine between Holstein breeds relation groups different proportions bloodline. Methods: A total 126 samples were studied at 13 microsatellite loci estimate variability. Result: largest number alleles detected BW group least 50% blood. Private found all except a 83-90% Principal coordinate analyses (PCoA) showed separation HL other groups, as well individual that pure-blooded White. results revealed further actions breeders should take retain required genotype breed.
